PBR- The red scarf girl

This book is about a little girl who is living in china during the revolutionary age. They labeled everyone according to their political status. Her family was black. At first, she didn't understand what all of that meant and why what her grandfather had to do with her. This book is a great personal picture into the lives of those persecuted in the revolutionary age. I read the whole thing, and didn't realize until the end that the author had been that little girl. In the end, she has to make a choice of whether to stay with her family or join the revolutionarys. She knows that her decision would change the entire outcome of her life. But, she realized that she loved her family way to much to disown them. It turns out, she made a better choice. The man that had brainwashed everyone died and they realized how stupid they were being! It shows us how careful we have to be in politics.
