Quote of the day

You better than the task ahead of you. If you weren't you wouldn't be doing it.

PBR- The red scarf girl

This book is about a little girl who is living in china during the revolutionary age. They labeled everyone according to their political status. Her family was black. At first, she didn't understand what all of that meant and why what her grandfather had to do with her. This book is a great personal picture into the lives of those persecuted in the revolutionary age. I read the whole thing, and didn't realize until the end that the author had been that little girl. In the end, she has to make a choice of whether to stay with her family or join the revolutionarys. She knows that her decision would change the entire outcome of her life. But, she realized that she loved her family way to much to disown them. It turns out, she made a better choice. The man that had brainwashed everyone died and they realized how stupid they were being! It shows us how careful we have to be in politics.

PBR- The Great Gilly Hopkins

This is a great book. You really get a true look into the lives of foster children. Gilly has been a foster child since she could remember. The book never says why her mother gave her up. But, Gilly has a bitterness in her heart for all her foster parents who have tried to tell her that they were her mother or father. She had been sent to countless homes, staying no more than 3 to 6 months. She hated everyone. Especially the social worker who took her to all the different places. Until, one day, they brought her to Maime. At first, she hated her too. Maime had had a lot of foster children live with her until they graduated highschool. She had loved all of them with every ounce of her being. But later on Gilly realizes that she loves Maime and all her crazy ways. Her grandmother eventually finds her, and when she wants to take Gilly home with her for good, she's heartbroken. This is a great book, other than some language. And it has great life lessons in it. Very cute and funny, but still very serious. A great book!

PBR

pbr. personal book reviews. thats what i'm going to start doing. every book i read i'm going to write my own review on it, for every book i read this summer. it should be interesting! but i'm going to try :) also maybe it will get some of my friends (mitchell) to start reading more. i think math and reading are the most important things in school. even though i hate math with a passion, i still agree that it is important. dang gon it, my favorite subjects are history and science. oh well they're pretty important too i guess. well i'm gonna get started on my PBR's lol
